1. Less to Clean- As busy as I get it really helps to have less to clean.
2. Easier to Find Your Children - I do not have to go far through the house to find any one of my children.
3. No Storage - This sounds like a bad thing. However, not having a lot of storage space has made me de-clutter ALOT.
4. Kids are Close - My boys share a room. My girls share a room. They do not get along all the time but when its bed time they are all giggles and the best of friends.
5. Enjoying Nature - When it gets to stuffy then my kids go outside and play. It is great that they want to be outside in nature. There is nothing better then some fresh air. So many kids now just sit in front of a screen.
6. Cheaper Electricity - This is self explanatory.
7. Oven Heater - In the winter I can bake in the kitchen and it will warm half the house. Baked goods and a warm house all in one.
I am sure there are plenty more benefits to having a smaller home. What is your number one reason to have a smaller house?
I always thought I wanted a big house till I got one. It took me all day to clean. Now I love my small house
ReplyDeleteWe had 10 kids in a 3 bedroom 1400 sq. ft. house! The 'Big Boys' turned the tack room into a bunkhouse so they slept out there, and the 'Little Boys' had the room in the house. (Only 4 girls so bunkbeds worked for them). Now we only have 1 boy left of the boys at home and he hstes sleeping alone! He begs one of his sisters to sleep on the top bunk in his room!...they won't, but they do read him a story or two until he gets sleepy, which is nice and seems to keep them close.
ReplyDeleteWe chose a smaller house because it came with a few acreas so they had plenty of room to run outside. As a bonus, there was less to clean, to heat or to cool! I really think it has helped the kids in their relationships, they enjoy each others company, although it's sad too, because as they grow up and move out, they really miss each other.
Thanks for your comment, I did not get to chose my small house but I love finding reasons why God has provided me with it. The closeness of the kids is a great example. We too have some room for them to run outside and I love that they can play outside and get some fresh air. I guess them moving out and missing each other really is a sweet thing :)
