I picked the Best Hair Book Ever! by Faithgirlz because I thought it would be a nice gift for my 14 year old daughter. She loves to do hair and she is very good at it. This book is geared towards middle school age. I think it also good for high school age girls. I even found some good tips for myself. All the hairstyle are appropriate for girls. In the book it has one hairstyle that requires hair chalk. I am very conservative and my girls do not put bright colors in the hair. But besides that, they were all appropriate for my girls.
This book does not have step by step pictures to follow the instructions for each hair style. I think that if your child was new to fixing hair they would need some help. My daughter can do hair easily so she does not need the step by step pictures to go with the instructions.
This book is trendy and fun. It has a magazine style layout. The book has 30 different hairstyles. There are tips on how to get your hair cut, how to maintain and clean your hair. It gives some homemade recipes for hair solutions (dry shampoo, beach waves water). Overall this book is a great book for girls who love to do hair.
